Idera, a vendor of Microsoft SQL Server management tools, recently unveiled software that lets IT managers audit their databases for compliance purposes.

SQL Compliance Manager monitors and audits data access, modifications and changes to security permissions in SQL Server implementations. It stores the audit data in a central repository for reporting, querying and analysis. An auditing feature alerts IT of any attempts to change data collection policies and any tampering with the repository.

SQL Compliance Manager provides standard compliance and auditing reports that can be customized. An agent monitors SQL Server transaction data, collects it and stores it in the repository.

The software is expected to be available by mid-June, starting at $995 per SQL Server instance.
