FrontBridge adds Kaspersky's anti-virus to e-mail service

FrontBridge Technologies Wednesday announced plans to incorporate Kaspersky Lab’s anti-virus technology into its outsourced e-mail security service.

Effective immediately, enterprises that use FrontBridge’s managed e-mail security service can have their incoming and outgoing mail scanned by Kaspersky’s anti-virus engine to catch malicious code before it can make its way to users’ inboxes, according to FrontBridge officials.

Kaspersky Lab’s technology is based on fifteen years of experience protecting users against viruses, Trojan horses and worms, officials say, and is known for the speedy release of new virus signatures to quickly catch malicious code before it can do harm. FrontBridge’s service will scan for Kaspersky virus updates every ten minutes, officials say.

Kaspersky’s technology joins the existing anti-virus engines that are already a part of FrontBridge’s service, which include products from Trend Micro, Sophos, and Symantec. FrontBridge provides its 3,700 customers with multiple anti-virus engines to ensure a high level of protection, officials say. The company also provides its own Virus Hold technology, which analyzes content of e-mail messages to identify and quarantine possible viruses before anti-virus companies release signatures for them.

FrontBridge’s Total Message Management service protects companies’ e-mail and instant messaging traffic from spam, viruses, and other malware and also provides compliance, disaster recovery and encryption, officials say.
