Network and system management company Netcordia started up in 2000, but only this week announced its first round of venture funding.
The Annapolis, Md., company, which makes appliances for analyzing VoIP, wireless, VPN and other networks, has received $3 million in funding from Novak Biddle Venture Partners. Netcordia says it will use the capital to fund product development and sales efforts.
Netcordia has been funded up until now through resources of its founders as well as from customer revenue-generated cash flow.
The company has been selling its products for a couple of years now and earlier this year announced it would make available an add-on that would enable its NetMRI appliances to better monitor voice traffic and QoS.
Netcordia says its boxes are deployed at customers such as Lockheed Martin, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and the U.S. Army.
The company this week also plans to announce a partnership with Galaxy Scientific to address the government market.
