The Zotob worm apparently caused “significant” performance problems for the Web sites of ABC and ESPN, reported Keynote Systems late Wednesday.

Have something to say about the worm? Speak out in our forum.

During several hours Tuesday afternoon Keynote saw download times for ABC and ESPN increase from their normal 2 to 3 seconds to “well over 24 seconds.” Availability for the two sites dipped for a short time to around 10% at 2:45 EDT Tuesday.

The Internet performance measurement company says it routinely watches the ABC and ESPN sites as part of its Keynote Business 40 Web performance index of top Web sites.

Keynote pointed out that performance for the Internet as a whole has not been affected by the worm, and that performance for the media sites returned to normal by the end of the business day.
