EMC this week unveiled new software for managing Microsoft Exchange environments.

At Storage Decisions in New York, the company announced EMC Storage Administrator for Exchange, software that lets IT more easily manage e-mail and improve e-mail availability. The software, which runs on EMC Clariion AX and CX series storage arrays, also migrate data and manage the storage-area network with the same tool.

EMC Storage Administrator for Exchange allows administrators to set quotas, define the number of mailboxes, and expand the capacity of Exchange as the system grows. In addition, the software can reassign storage groups from a failed server to an active server.

Exchange server groups can be moved using the software and database, logs and system files remain consistent during the move.

EMC Storage Administrator for Exchange is priced per Fibre Channel or iSCSI array with a starting price of $2,000 when deployed with an EMC CLARiiON AX100.  The software is expected to be available in October.
