Carly Fiorina has kept a low profile since being dismissed as president and CEO of HP last February , but apparently has no intention of abandoning the technology industry altogether. On Thursday, Herndon, Va., security vendor Cybertrust is expected to announce that Fiorina has been appointed to the company's board of directors.

Fiorina has made a limited number of speaking engagements since she was fired, following a dispute with HP's board, but her profile has greatly diminished since her tumultuous five-and-a-half-year tenure at the computing giant came to an end.

Cybertrust chose her for its board because of her "business acumen" and "incredible wealth of knowledge and insight into how technology impacts businesses and governments," the company said in a statement.

The privately held Cybertrust sells security and compliance management products and services.

In addition to her new board position, Fiorina also is trying her hand at writing. She has signed a contract with Penguin Group USA's Portfolio imprint to publish her memoirs . That book is expected to be out late next year.
