Looking to speed up its growth in 2006, Business Objects plans to expand its professional-services group and develop more products tailored to specific vertical industries. To effect these changes, the business intelligence vendor announced last week that Mark Doll, a former Ernst & Young partner, has been appointed its new vice president of professional services. Business Objects has said it expects revenue for the fiscal year that ended Dec. 31 to exceed $1 billion for the first time. The company is to release last year's financial results next month; it won't say until then how many professional-services staff it plans to add or discuss its plans in detail.
