EMC confirmed Friday that the company has acquired Authentica, a maker of digital document security software.
Authentica's products – SecureMail, Secure Remote Mail and Secure Documents – let customers protect their information wherever it is, whether in transit, at rest, or after it has been delivered.
EMC did not formally announce the deal, but confirmed it when contacted. The company did not disclose the financial details.
Authentica is funded for $40 million by 3i, Greylock, North Bridge Venture Partners and Venrock. Among Authentica's customers are the Department of Defense, the Department of Justice, Ford Motor Co., Corning and Banner Health.
