Hot on the heels of BlackBerry's announced plans to launch in China, rival Visto will partner with a subsidiary of Lenovo Group to offer push e-mail in that country, Visto said Tuesday.

Unlike Research In Motion's BlackBerry services, which will be offered through telecom operators, the Visto service will be provided by businesses to employees. Lenovo will deploy the service to some of its own workers, and its Lenovo Chinaweal System & Service, a services division, will provide it to external clients.

The Visto system can be used with 12 devices including Lenovo's own ET960 and ET980 PDAs, Nokia's 6600 and 7610, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications's P910C, and Dopod International's 818 and 828.

China United Telecommunications entered the country's push e-mail market first in April, with the launch of its RedBerry service.
