Directory management vendor NetPro last week shipped additions to its backup and restoration software for Active Directory. RestoreADmin 2.5 includes new sorting, grouping and search features for recovering deleted objects. The software integrates with NetPro's ChangeAuditor, which provides notification when changes or deletions are made in the directory. RestoreADmin 2.5 also has a new backup engine that backs ups only objects that have changed since the last backup, enhanced storage features and improved reporting controls. The software runs on 32- and 64-bit platforms and is priced at $5 per user.
Infoblox last week updated its NIOS suite of DNS, DHCP and IP address management appliances and operating system software with features that let customers deploy multiple distributed appliances and manage them from a single console. Infoblox's technology consists of a set of four secure, hardened appliances to handle various numbers of database objects and queries per second depending on network size, and software upgraded with an enhanced GUI. NIOS Version 4 uses what Infoblox dubs its ID grid technology, which lets customers replace and configure new boxes based on the data stored in existing appliances. For instance, the boxes share data in real time and can be managed as a single entity using distributed database technology, data and configuration updates across the appliances in the grid. The new appliance platforms and the NIOS Version 4 operating system are expected to be available next month. Pricing starts at about $5,000.
