IBM agreed to buy MRO Software for about $740 million in a move to bolster its software and services offerings, the Armonk, N.Y., company said Thursday.
IBM plans to incorporate MRO assets and service management software into its Tivoli software products.
The company intends to leverage MRO's software and management consultants to provide its clients with a single approach to managing all their industrial and IT assets, IBM said.
Since MRO's offerings are built on a modern architecture, they can be easily integrated into IBM's systems based on a service-oriented architecture, IBM said.
