Scott Murray has resigned his posts as 3Com president and CEO after 7 months, finding the amount of time required to be in China to support the company's key partnership with Huawei to be too much of a time commitment away from his family. Edgar Masri, a former high level 3Com executive and more recently a venture capitalist with Matrix Partners, takes over in mid-August.

Masri joins 3Com from Redline Communications, where he has been COO.

Separately, Bob Mao has been hired to managed the joint venture in China, where he is already based. 3Com also said it will begin negotiations to increase its 51% share of the venture.
