Fiberlink rolls out security service aimed at keeping corporate data safe

By Denise Pappalardo , NetworkWorld.com , 08/22/2006

Fiberlink on Monday announced its Managed Information Protection Service security service.

The offering lets network managers monitor and control how data is used by mobile and remote employees. Fiberlink integrated Verdasys Technology’s software with its Extend360 client software to protect customers against insider threats to corporate data and intellectual property.

The managed service allows customers to set policies on how mobile users can access, view and manipulate data from their mobile device.

Fiberlink has recently been focusing on keeping customers’ mobile devices secure. In June, the service provider announced added software to its Extend360 client from SecureWave and Internet Security Systems to enforce remote access policies and threat management for remote workers.

Now with its Managed Information Protection service, Fiberlink is offering customers peace of mind that their corporate data is being used the way the company intended based on internal policies and government compliance rules, the service provider says.

Customers work with Fiberlink to customize policies that meet their company’s needs.

The offering is available now for $6 to $8 per user per month. The service provider expects its Managed Information Protection service to be an add-on for existing customers rather than a standalone purchase.
