Dell announced today that it is extending its storage products marketing relationship with EMC for another five years.

Appearing on stage at Dell's Technology Day in New York, Dell President and CEO Kevin Rollins announced the deal.

The relationship, which began in October 2001, allows Dell to market EMC products and develop its own arrays based on EMC technology.

As evidence of how well the partnership is doing, EMC Chairman, President and CEO Joe Tucci said that since EMC and Dell joined forces in 2001 they have overtaken HP in the midtier storage market based on revenue share (29% to 24.7%).

"We'll do whatever we can to gain another 21 points of market share," he said.

The companies now have more than 34,000 Dell/EMC systems in the marketplace.

Dell offers four SAN arrays – the Dell/EMC CX3-80, the CX3-40, the CX3-20 and the CX300. The company also markets the EMC NS500G network-attached storage gateway and the Dell/EMC AX150 and AX150i. The companies also partner for storage services and software, such as replication.
