Xythos Software Monday announced a version of its content management software that lets IT administrators manage data in accordance with the Department of Defense 5015.2 records management mandates.
At the Educause 2006 tradeshow, the company added Defense Department 5015.2 records management features to its Enterprise Document Management Suite (EDMS) 6.0. The Defense Department 5015.2 provides implementing and procedural guidance on the management of records in the department; it defines required system interfaces, search criteria and the minimum records management requirements that must be met.
The new version of EDMS includes enhanced auditing capabilities, role-based security and improved reporting and archiving – features that let customers manage their content better and more responsibly.
EDMS consists of the Xythos Enterprise Document Manager, the WebFile Server, Xythos Drive and Xythos Developer Studion. The Enterprise Document Manager is a Web-based document management system that includes document check-in, check-out, version control and workflow, classification and retention.
Xythos WebFile Server controls all documents and files that are checked in to the Enterprise Document Manager. Xythos Drive transforms any Windows desktop application into a WebDAV-based document management and collaboration tool. Finally, Xythos Developer Studio lets IT create and customize a document management installation.
The Enterprise Document Management Suite 6.0 will undergo certification testing with the Defense Department Joint Interoperability Test Command this fall and is expected to be available by year-end.
EDMS is available for 100 users starting at $25,000. An enterprise-size installation will cost $45,000 for 250 users and $30 per user for 10,000 users.
