Cingular Wireless is making field-service automation applications easier for users to access with a new service it announced today.

Corrigo, which produces service-management software, developed a suite of field-service automation applications for Cingular. The applications include Work Order Manager, Service Manager and Professional Service Manager.

Cingular says that with its new offering, it is targeting field-service industries, including construction, property management and equipment repair.

Customers that use BlackBerry, Pocket PC and Java-based devices can download a tool that enables their Cingular device to access the applications instantly.

The new applications are part of a series of services that Cingular offers and is ideally suited for the field-service industry, the wireless service provider says. The existing services include push-to-talk, wireless e-mail platforms, location-based services and other applications that are for specific vertical industries.

The field-service applications are available from $9.99 to $64.99 per month, per user depending on which applications selected. These rates are in addition to users' current voice and data plans.
