IPass announced Tuesday it is expanding its Wi-Fi roaming agreement with Wayport adding thousands of hotspots at McDonald restaurants to its network of Wi-Fi locations.

Customers on iPass’ global Wi-Fi network will now be able to access the Internet and their corporate networks from 7,500 McDonald’s restaurants across the country. This represents more than half of McDonald’s 13,700 restaurants in the United States.

Customers can use the same client software, the iPassConnect universal client, to access the hotspots at McDonald’s restaurants as they do at locations around the world.

This is an expansion of iPass’ agreement with Wayport, which was first struck in 2002. Under that agreement iPass customers can use Wayport hotspots in hotels and airports in 32 countries.

IPass, which aggregates networks from carriers around the world, says it has the largest Wi-Fi network in the world with 70,000 Wi-Fi hotspots.
