The head of Oracle’s identity management efforts was named on Wednesday to head the management board for the Liberty Alliance, which focuses on identity management standards and architectures.
Roger Sullivan, vice president of Oracle identity management, will serve a one-year term for the Alliance, a consortium that includes more than 100 associate members and affiliates. The group has been instrumental over the years in helping set directions for the advancement of identity management and privacy issues.
The Liberty Alliance management board consists of representatives from AOL, Ericsson, Fidelity Investments, France Telecom, HP, Intel, Novell, NTT, Oracle, and Sun.
Other elected officers are: Liberty Alliance vice president Jason Rouault, CTO of Identity Management Software at HP; secretary Bill Smith, senior director of business strategy in the CTO’s office at Sun; and treasurer Roger Martin, director of standards at AOL.
In addition, Brett McDowell was appointed executive director of Liberty Alliance. McDowell has served in leadership positions with Liberty for the past four years, most recently as director.
The Alliance plans to focus in 2007 on expanding industry relationships, foster convergence of identity standards, and develop legal frameworks and templates for quickly deploying digital identity management infrastructure.
