Fidelis Security Systems this week released a new version of its data-leak protection appliance with features that let it scan even more types of traffic to ensure sensitive information doesn’t leave a company’s network.
Fidelis XPS, available now, inspects encrypted data with support for the Internet Content Adaptation Protocol or I-CAP. The appliance scans and, when necessary, blocks encrypted outbound data from leaving a corporation’s network, the company says. This feature lets an organization have the same level of control over outbound encrypted data as it does over unecrypted data.
The upgrade also includes a database of drug names against which Fidelis XPS compares and blocks outbound information according to such regulations as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. In addition, the release scans outbound instant messages that go straight to the Internet instead of through a proxy server, as well as traffic that is routed through proxies.
Customers can choose to block instances of sensitive information heading out of the organization, or just alert users and administrators. Administrators can take different actions based on individual policies. The appliance scans traffic on all channels of all network ports.
Fidelis XPS is priced starting at $50,000.
