HP on Tuesday announced a new appliance, software and services to protect data on HP servers and storage for regulatory compliance.

At the HP Technology Forum in Las Vegas, HP announced the HP Secure Advantage family of products for securing data and verifying its authenticity. The Secure Advantage platform consists of an audit trail for policy monitoring and enforcement, an appliance called the HP Compliance Log Warehouse, a standards-base information security model, tape-based encryption, a toolbar that prevents phishing, and identity- and access-management software.

According to IDC, the security products and services market is expected to reach $66.6 billion by 2010.

The audit trail for policy monitoring and enforcement helps customers safeguard their intellectual property and provide validation with proof of compliance.

The HP Compliance Log Warehouse appliance is based on an industry-standard HP Integrity server. It collects and analyzes log data and reports on variances in the data relative to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other regulations. The Compliance Log Warehouse includes an alerting module based on SenSage technology, which performs analysis of event data for audits or investigations.

The new standards-based Information Security Service Management (ISSM) reference model from HP Services counsels an organization on managing and mitigating risk through the deployment of security controls. HP ISSM is part of the new HP Service Management Framework, which provides a common language based on industry best practices and standards, such as Version 3 of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library and ISO/IEC 20000. The security portfolio’s data protection capabilities extend by providing AES 256-bit encryption for the new HP StorageWorks LTO-4 Ultrium1840 tape drives.

Further, an Anti-phishing Toolbar, a two-factor authentication product, helps reduce the costs of online fraud or phishing. It calculates a unique password from information provided by the user, the user’s browser and the site being visited. The password it generates lets the toolbar send passwords to sites only when the site’s certificate is present.

Finally, the HP Identity Center is an identity- and access-management package that automates the management of people, processes, security and compliance.
