HField Technologies has announced Wi-Fire, a compact high-performance USB Wi-Fi Adapter for Macs that triples Wi-Fi range.
The device integrates a high gain directional antenna with an extremely strong and sensitive receiver. Users benefit from the increased mobility and greater range with faster speeds as compared to Airport Extreme or AirPort Express.
Wi-Fire works with any 802.11 b/g access point and lets users connect to a network from up to 1,000 feet, more than three times the range of AirPort cards and other 802.11 adapters. It even works in locations where no wireless signal could be detected previously.
The device is 3-x-4-x-3/8-inches in size. It folds up for transportation and connects to a Mac using USB. The device is set to cost $79 in the U.S., U.K. pricing hasn't been revealed.
