Class of 2007 computer science grads’ average starting salary offer is up by 4.5% to $53,051 this year, according to a new survey.

The fall Salary Survey publication from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) found that other IT-related starting salary offers also rose this year as compared to last:

• Information sciences and systems grads saw an average offer of $49,966, up 5.9% from a year ago.

• Management information systems grads were offered an average of $47,407, up 4.7%

• All engineering disciplines posted increases, ranging from 3.8% to 6.3%.

And you might be thankful you didn’t go for that English major: They saw just a 1.7% starting salary offer increase compared to a year ago.

A separate survey by the organization found that the job market is looking good as well for the college Class of 2008.
