Former Network Appliance executive Bernadette Escue is scheduled to be arraigned in federal court on Oct. 11 on a charge of embezzling more than $90,000 from the storage vendor.

According to documents filed by U.S. Attorney Scott Schools in the San Jose federal court last week, Escue used NetApp-issued corporate credit cards to pay for myriad unauthorized personal expenses between Feb. 5, 2001 and Oct. 31, 2003.

The court documents say that Escue served as NetApp's Global Transportation Manager and worked in the company's Sunnyvale, Calif. headquarters.

In a statement, NetApp confirmed that Escue worked as business services manager for the firm between Dec. 1, 2000 and Nov. 6, 2003. That statement added: "It is inappropriate for us to discuss any other details of Ms. Escue's employment until the criminal proceedings against her have concluded."

Among the wire fraud allegations, Escue is accused of charging $12,900 on a corporate credit card to pay tuition at a private high school, Drew School in San Francisco, according to the court documents.

In addition to restitution, Escue faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
