Cisco, which now owns the WebEx online collaboration software, announced Wednesday that it has expanded Mac support across the product line.
WebEx is a suite of collaboration tools for individuals, small and medium business and enterprises who need to conduct business online. The software lets you conduct meetings online, do sales presentations, customer support, create multimedia presentations, do distance learning, remote computer access and more.
Cisco said that WebEx Meeting Center, WebEx WebOffice, WebEx Event Center, WebEx Training Center, WebEx Sales Center and WebEx Support Center now offer better cross-platform support, especially for Mac OS X v10.5 "Leopard" and Safari 3.
Ilan Kasaan, director of product management for Cisco WebEx, said the increased Mac support is a result of increased Mac usage in business. Kasaan said that Cisco WebEx has seen Mac use double in the last year.
"We want to ensure that all of our customers have a successful experience, and as with all of our solutions, we are consistently upgrading to meet the demands of our growing user base," said Kasaan in a statement.
Mac-specific improvements to WebEx include improved launch and join speeds for WebEx Meeting Center, better desktop and application sharing performance in WebEx Meeting Center, better presentation sharing performance in WebEx Training Center, WebEx Event Center and WebEx Sales Center, support for up to six videoconferencing channels in WebEx Meeting Center sessions, better 3D animations in shared Keynote documents and improved sound quality for VoIP and audio broadcasting across WebEx.
