Perimeter eSecurity, a managed service provider, said on Tuesday it has acquired security vendor Edgeos for an undisclosed amount to boost the capabilities in its products.
The acquisition of Edgeos, whose offerings include data scans and vulnerability assessments (Compare Patch and Vulnerability Management products), will advance the security capabilities of Perimeter's compliance products (Compare Network Auditing and Compliance products) like PCI Compliance Solution Suite, Doug Howard, chief strategy officer at Perimeter, said in a statement.
Perimeter said Edgeos' security service offerings have already been implemented into its Vulnerability Management Solution Service Suite, which provides antivirus, patch management and server- and network-based security services.
The updated compliance suite will now help merchant banks better comply with security standards established by the PCI Security Standards Council. It will also help health care customers demonstrate better compliance with government regulations like HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), Perimeter said.
Edgeos' software-as-a-service security suite is sold as a private label through resellers. The company has less than $10 million in annual revenue and fewer than 25 employees, a Perimeter spokesperson said.
