Speakapedia converts Wikipedia articles to spoken word

By Peter Cohen , Macworld , 07/15/2008

Shiny Development on Tuesday introduces Speakapedia, a utility that turns Wikipedia Articles into spoken word tracks in iTunes. Speakapedia costs $9.95 (through the end of August, when it becomes $14.95). A demo is available.

Speakapedia will covert Wikipedia articles to spoken word using Apple's built in text-to-speech capabilities. The software then imports those audio tracks directly to iTunes. All non-essential text is filtered out, and you can choose which sections of an article you want to convert.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.5 or later, 3.8MB hard disk space, Internet connection and iTunes.
