The ecosystem around Google Apps grew a little broader on Monday, as on-demand performance and talent management vendor SuccessFactors disclosed that it has integrated some of its tools with Google's hosted productivity suite and other Google services.
Connecting SuccessFactors to Google Talk, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Book Search and Google Maps will enable workers to chat with co-workers and management, share documents, conduct research and coordinate tasks, SuccessFactors said.
SuccessFactors' modules support activities ranging from recruitment to career development, for customers such as individual managers as well as large enterprises.
An information page on SuccessFactors' Web site includes a number of screenshots depicting the integration. One shows that the Talk client maintains Google's look and feel but exists as a pane within the SuccessFactors screen.
SuccessFactors, which formed in 2001, claims more than 2,000 customers and nearly 4 million end users for its software. Pricing ranges between US$100 and $150 per user per module per year. Google Apps Premier Edition costs $50 per user per year. A spokeswoman for SuccessFactors said either the free or paid version of Google Apps can be used.
Earlier this year, Salesforce partner Appirio integrated Salesforce's on-demand CRM (customer relationship management) service with Google Apps. A series of other vendors have also tapped into Google Apps, some with full-fledged business applications and others with more widget-level functionality.
