In its zeal to become a world-class mobile service provider, Zain has launched a specialized offer for Muslim faithful in the holy month of Ramadhan.
By sending a text message with the word "Ramadhan" to 786 for a one-off fee of 100 Kenyan shillings (US$1.50), Zain Kenya customers will be able to receive inspirational quotes from the Koran via SMS (Short Message Service) throughout September.
Zain plans to donate part of the proceeds to mosques nationwide.
"In the spirit of supporting and showing solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters, we will offer this special service throughout the fasting period," said Rene Meza, Zain Kenya managing director.
Zain will also donate food through some of the country's mosques during the breaking of the fast, Meza said.
