African Banking Corporation will roll out BankWorld software, an self-service platform from CR2, as part of its latest initiative to offer integrated financial services.

With the software, ABC will manage its ATM (automated teller machine), Internet, mobile and point-of-sale networks in Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

"African Banking Corporation is committed to becoming the pre-eminent pan-African integrated financial services provider, providing best of breed service to all our chosen customers segments," said ABC Group CEO Doug Munatsi. "In African markets, providing remote access to complement access to the branch is a critical success factor."

"CR2 looks forward to working with African Banking Corporation and helping them to expand both in terms of service and presence," added CR2 CEO Martin Dolan. "BankWorld's ability to deliver an extensive self-service network will greatly assist African Banking Corporation to effectively reach the diverse customer segments within its chosen market."

ABC selected BankWorld because of its unique ability to deliver a powerful self-service platform with a comprehensive suite of self-service channels, Munatsi said. The platform will allow ABC to provide all of its customers with 24-hour access to financial products and services, he explained.

The bank hopes to use the mobile platform to extend its customer reach by addressing the unbanked market and providing powerful security through two-factor authentication and one-time passwords.
