Werck released Checkout Server, a dedicated server application for its Checkout point-of-sale software at Macworld Expo Tuesday. Werck also updated Checkout to version 2.3.

Checkout users wanted a way to keep their store data on a dedicated computer, the company says. With Checkout Server, up to 40 computers can be connected to a store database at once. Users can schedule automatic store backups with Checkout Server that can run without interruption at any time, even while employees are logged in.

The 2.3 update to Checkout features a brand new API to create custom reports to Checkout as well as German, French and Dutch localizations.

Both Checkout Server and Checkout 2.3 are now available for download from the Checkout Web site. Checkout 2.3 is a free update for all users of Checkout 2.0 or later. (A single license for the point of sale app costs $399.) Checkout Server is available as a free download.
