Juniper, Nokia Siemens extend partnership

Juniper Networks and Nokia Siemens Networks said they are extending their partnership to include interoperable Carrier Ethernet systems.

The system will be designed to provide access and aggregation of all services over a Carrier Ethernet infrastructure for service providers.

The Carrier Ethernet system will consist of Juniper’s MX-series Ethernet Services Router, Nokia Siemens Networks A-series Carrier Ethernet Switch and the ASPEN “single click” network management system. The system is intended to address mobile backhaul, enterprise and residential service applications.

The Carrier Ethernet services market is expected to grow 22% per year, reaching $12 billion in 2012,  according to IDC.

The targeted availability for the integrated Juniper/Nokia Siemens systems is the second half of 2009.

Nokia Siemens is currently a significant reseller of Juniper routers. The company accounted for more than 10% of Juniper’s quarterly revenue in the second quarter of 2008.

Nokia Siemens will show a demonstration of a live backhaul application over the integrated system at next week’s Mobile World Congress conference and trade show in Barcelona.
