Apple's Woz dances better with broken foot

Although Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak received a higher score for his Monday night quickstep than he did for his cha-cha last week on Dancing with the Stars, he is in danger of being booted from the show.

Wozniak and his professional partner, Karina Smirnoff, received 17 points from the three judges, giving them a two-week combined score of just 30 out of a possible 60, the lowest of any of the 13 couples.

But the judges' comments were markedly kinder this week than last, when one called Wozniak's dancing a "disaster."

"You're having great fun," said judge Len Goodman. "[But] the dance quality is not there."

"You're such a trooper," added judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

Bruno Tonioli, who last week said Wozniak reminded him of a "Teletubby going mad," this week compared him to a Pixar animated character. "You remind me of WALL-E ... a bit rusty around the edges, in need of spare parts, but very resilient and incredibly charming," said Tonioli.

Wozniak, 58, danced with a foot fracture diagnosed last week, but said the injury had not handicapped him Monday night. "The foot's fine today," he said. "I've only taken one aspirin in five days."

As he did last week, Wozniak used a pink feather boa as a prop and played up the comedy, wearing black All-Star sneakers and taped-together, black-rimmed glasses to strut his inner geek.

Wozniak, who was critical of the judges last week in messages posted to his Woz.org Web site and his Facebook page, was given little chance to turn negative on the show tonight.

Even with the lowest combined score, Wozniak is not automatically off the show. The 13 couples' scores will be factored in with the phone and online votes by viewers, then the two couples with the lowest total scores will compete in a dance-off.

ABC will air the results show Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET.
