Vodafone Australia customers can now stay on-top of their mobile phone spending habits with the launch Monday of a new desktop application.

Called 'MyVodafone Xpress,' the new application allows customers to check their account balance, set reminders for bill payment and view up-to-date information on all mobile usage for free.

Vodafone is encouraging customers to trial the beta application over the next three months, and provide feedback prior to its official launch later this year.

Vodafone general manager for service and capabilities, Adam Spence, said the application gives customers complete control over their mobile phone account.

"Vodafone has developed MyVodafone Xpress as a new service to help customers manage their mobile spending," Spence said.

"Most Australians are now living with a heightened sense of awareness of all expenses, so this application will be an excellent tool to help Vodafone customers to track and control their mobile phone bills."

The beta trial of MyVodafone Express is available to the first 25,000 customers to download the application and is compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista 32 bit editions.
