Mobile operator CSL launched recently what it claims the world's fastest All-IP mobile broadband network in Hong Kong.
Dubbed Next G, the network has download speeds up to 21 Mbps.
"Following the launch of Next G, Hong Kong people can now experience the fastest mobile broadband in the world. For the business community at a critical time in the economic down-cycle, Next G means world-leading infrastructure enabling advanced corporate applications that maximize efficiency and productivity," said Tarek Robbiati, CEO of CSL. "For consumers, Next G provides an enhanced mobile multimedia experience with unparalleled usability and functionality."
"We are very proud that together with CSL we have enabled the successful launch of the world's first SDR-based HSPA+ All IP network in Hong Kong," said Yin Yimin, CEO of ZTE. "Hong Kong is one of the most challenging environments on earth to deploy a network. Our project team of over 1,500 engineers and technical experts in Hong Kong have worked closely with CSL to ensure that this network provides the best performance."
Next G is delivered through CSL's integrated 2G/3G all-IP SDR (Software Defined Radio) based HSPA+ network, the first of its kind in the world. In January 2009, CSL has been awarded a 4G FD-LTE 2.6Ghz license. The readily upgradeable nature of Next G combined with this additional spectrum means that CSL's has set out a readily accessible path to 4G or LTE, said CSL.
