According to "Midway sources who wish to remain anonymous," the team behind Mortal Kombat may be negotiating an exit from its troubled parent company.
Given that the Mortal Kombat team has been the most successful development team at Midway -- even the 2008 fall crossover Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe sold well despite fan skepticism -- the rumors carry weight.
In February, Midway declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is currently reorganizing its debt after top investor Sumner Redstone sold his 87 percent stake in the company.
