Nearly one in ten of all consumers in the UK, France, Germany and the US have admitted to watching illegally downloaded video contents, says Futuresource Consulting.

The company's 'Living With Digital: Consumer Insights into Entertainment Consumption' survey also revealed that of those that download video content from the web, 15 percent said it came from illegal sources, while 66 percent of Brits sometimes or on watch TV and movies on their PC.

The survey also said that 80 percent of Brits use catch-up or on demand TV services frequently and more than half answered 'yes' or 'maybe' when asked whether they would be willing to pay for such services in the future.

"There is a huge appetite out there for free on-demand TV, but levels of paid-for activity are still low. The people we surveyed said they would watch more online content if the user interface and search facilities were improved," said Alison Casey, head of global content at Futuresource.
