Sonnet Technologies has announced that it has reduced the price of its Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34 to $199.95, cutting the price by $100.
What's claimed to be the fastest 2-port eSATA controller available for ExpressCard slots, the SATA card supports sustained data throughput of up to 200 MB/sec.
Unlike most other eSATA ExpressCard adapters, the Tempo SATA Pro supports 4GB and 8GB of RAM in MacBook Pro computers, although the latest Apple laptops.
Apple's recently refreshed MacBook Pro 13″ and 15″ models each come equipped with an SD Media Card reader slot, but for the 15" laptop this has required elimination of the ExpressCard/34 expansion slot.
The ExpressCard/34 slot is still offered on the 17″ MacBook Pro.
The Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34 is compatible with MacBook Pro systems running Mac OS X 10.4 or higher, as well as with laptops running Windows Vista and Windows XP SP2.
More information about the Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34 host controller, Sonnet Technologies, and the company's other products can be found at www.sonnettech.com.
