As part of direct service provision and marketing of Korean online games, the North American Final Round of the Game & Game World Championship 2009 (GNGWC 2009), which is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yu In-chon), managed by the Korea Creative Content Agency (Chairman Li Jae-woong) and financially supported by KT Co., Ltd., was held in Howies' Game Shack at the Buena Park Mall, LA, USA on September 12.
The GNGWC 2009 North American Final Round opened with an opening performance at 11 am on September 12th in the midst of 10,000 spectators and offered much entertainment to many people through heated competition between the participants as well as other events.
On the other hand, a total of 44 representatives of North America selected in August through preliminary matches participated and held a heated competition at the North American Final Round, which was held to select the representatives of North America for the three Korean online games of "Shot Online," "Silk Road Online" and "Atlantica," official games of GNGWC2009. A total of six players, including the winners of each game, Anthony Hieu Ha (character name: WHO ZZZZZZ) of Shot Online, Darrel Espinoza (character name: Sikdd) of Silk Road Online and Jimmy Zhang (character name: Robinswan) of Atlantica grabbed the tickets to Busan where the world finals will be held on November 29th.
The North American Final Round of GNGWC2009 started with much interest and was evaluated as having been a forum for online games, where both participants and spectators mingled and enjoyed together. Spectators madly cheered the heated games of players and participated in events where ample prizes were given.
With the successful completion of the North American Final Round and the second regional final round, GNGWC2009 fever is heating up. The Korean Final Round (Yongin, Korea, September 27th), the South American Final Round (San Paolo, Brazil, October 10th), and the Japanese Final Round (Tokyo, Japan, October 17th) are planned to be held consecutively in the future. The representatives of each region selected through the final rounds will participate in the world finals on November 29th in Busan during the Bexco G-Star 2009 exhibition.
At the GNGWC2009 world finals, the winner of each game will be awarded US$ 5,000, the second winner will grab US$ 3,000 and the third US$ 1,000. A total of US$ 27,000 in prizes for the winners of the three games will be provided. Anyone can participate in GNGWC and submit their application form on the official Web site (www.gamengame.com).
