I don't get to play too many PC games--my console roots can't handle the mouse-keyboard setup and my family's computers were
often incapable of playing anything more graphically intensive than solitaire--but I'm glad I fired up my Microsoft Sidewinder (Wikipedia) to play American McGee's Alice nine years ago. Between the dark take on a classic story, the better-than-PS1
visuals, and the perfectly pleasant platforming, it became a classic and a mainstay on console gamers' wishlists. We may never
get a release for Alice on consoles--though Xbox Live Arcade and PSN would be perfect homes--but we do know a sequel is coming
in 2011.
A teaser trailer has popped up online (originally on the official site), showing a different style of animation--this scene, which could just be CG and not game-engine visuals seems to utilize
stop-motion puppetry. The story seems to pick up after the events of the original Alice, which itself took place after the
events of Lewis Carroll's two books--Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.
According to EA's info site, the game is listed as a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC release, and is being created by American
McGee's development house, Spicy Horse. We've sent word out to folks at EA to see if we can squeeze some additional information
out of them about the game.
