Konami issued a statement yesterday confirming that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be available to Japanese PSP owners on March 18 of next year.

Kojima Productions has been remarkably coy about release dates since Tokyo Game Show 2009, when a playable Japanese demo of the game was made available to the public and circulated internationally by IGN. The game is expected to retail for 5229 yen, which (if Google can be trusted) equates to roughly $60 U.S. As you can see from the product page on your right no release dates have been announced yet for North American customers, though previous Metal Gear games have always seen international release shortly after the initial launch.

No further details have been made public yet about what fans can expect from Peace Walker other than it is the first Metal Gear PSP game directed by Hideo Kojima and that it takes place after the events of Metal Gear Sold 3 as Naked Snake battles mercenaries in 1974 Costa Rica.
