Shacknews has discovered that Rare has confirmed (via Twitter) that the company's next game, an HD remake of the Nintendo 64 first-person shooter Perfect Dark, will be releasing in early 2010, during the winter months. If hold that Twitter post to the letter of the law--and when it comes to tweets, why not?--that means that the game will be available before March 20, 2010.
This marks the third of Rare's Nintendo 64 titles to be ported to Xbox Live Arcade, as Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie were brought to the service to celebrate the release of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. The Perfect Dark series has also come to the Xbox 360 in retail form, with Perfect Dark Zero. The company's other major franchise, Conker, was released on the original Xbox in the form of Conker: Live and Reloaded, a title that can be played on the Xbox 360 thanks to backwards compatibility.
Which Rare franchises do you hope to see resurrected on the Xbox 360? Besides the obvious one that will never come to fruition no matter how hard we pray...
