A Gran Turismo 5 demo comes to PSN this Thursday (11/17) as part of the GT5 Time Trial Challenge, a promotional event intended to showcase the new physics engine and determine the best American and Canadian drivers.

The Time Trial Challenge includes two trial events on a unique version of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana. Players will compete in either stock or tuned versions of the Nissan 370z, and the top player from each region (with the lowest combined lap time from both challenges) will be declared the champion. Casual players should be aware that Polyphony Digital has locked the game controls at professional level for the purposes of this trial, and no assists are available in this demo.

The lucky winners will be publicly lauded and receive free airfare and hotel arrangements for two to visit next year's Indianapolis 500 as VIP spectators. Five runner-ups in both regions will win a downloadable copy of Gran Turismo for PSP. The official rules of the contest can be found on the Playstation Blog.
