Gambridge founders Harvey Starr and Stan Gafner announced the formation of their company earlier this week, and are revealing their plans to launch the Z-Line of hybrid digital musical instruments and game controllers at CES in Las Vegas. The company's initial product, the Z-1, is a game controller and digital guitar which they say "is revolutionizing the world of music video games and music education." The intent, the founders say, is to allow gamers to control guitar video games "in a more realistic and fun way." The Z-1 also enables the player to learn guitar playing techniques while playing video games or by using a variety of guitar learning software, Gafner said.

According to the company, the Z-1 includes "Support for all major music video game titles on all console and computer platforms" and features line-out for headphones, full MIDI functionality, has a motion sensor, and firmware that can be easily updated. The company will be revealing more about the device after CES on its official site.
