The Writer's Guild of America has announced their five nominees for a Videogame Writing Award, and the nominated games (and accompanying writers) are as follows:

- Assassin's Creed II - Story by Corey May, Script by Corey May, Joshua Rubin and Jeffrey Yohalem

- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - Amy Hennig

- Wet - Duppy Demetrius

- X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Marc Guggenheim

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Written by Jesse Stern with additional writing and story by Steve Fukuda, Todd Alderman, Mackey McCandlish, Zied Rieke, Jason West and Sean Slayback

This is the third year in which a videogame writing will receive recognition, with previous awards going to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Dead Head Fred. Games must have been published December of 2008 and November of 2009 in order for their script to be considered, and credited writers must be members of the WGA Videogame Writers Caucus when the game is submitted.

According to a press release the Caucus was established to "encourage storytelling excellence in videogames, to improve the status of writers, and to encourage uniform standards within the gaming industry," and each division of the WGA strives to "ensure writers receive the benefits of a Writers Guild contract."

The 2010 Writer's Guild Awards will take place simultaneously in New York and Los Angeles February 20th, when the Writers Guild of America West and the Writers Guild of America East will come together to recognize their picks for outstanding achievement in the field of literature.
