Ghost Recon 4 is officially Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and it's coming out for the Holiday 2010 season.
A press release sent out this morning announced that the game was in development at Ubisoft's Paris studio under the same team that worked on both Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and its sequel. Details are scarce about Future Soldier's plot or gameplay elements, but "state-of-the-art" singleplayer and multiplayer modes are a part of it.
From the press release:
[T]he game will feature cutting-edge technology, prototype high-tech weaponry, and state-of-the-art single-player and multiplayer modes. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will go beyond the core Ghost Recon franchise and deliver a fresh gameplay experience, with an unparalleled level of quality that will excite long-time fans and newcomers alike.
Players can try out the multiplayer in beta this summer. Look for beta invites in copies of Splinter Cell: Conviction "for a limited time."
UPDATE: During this morning's Ubisoft earnings call, the company confirmed that Ghost Recon is coming to the Wii as well -- although it will be a "different product" than Future Soldier on console. Stay tuned for a complete rundown of all Ubisoft's juicy tidbits.
