Once the dominant social network for younger users, and those looking for entertainment content, MySpace has taken some serious
knocks from Facebook over the past couple of years. No longer the connection point for all teens, it has been relegated to
a second place network, and has become associated more as a music discovery destination.
MySpace co-president Mike Jones wants to change all that. At GDC today he said that "gaming is core to the overall entertainment
value of MySpace," and revealed that "nearly a third of our users engage daily in games and there are more than 28 million
active app users on our site." He went on to explain that the service has had a "laser focus" on revamping the MySpace games
service, and stated that "jiust as music was our springboard for revitalizing our platform, we're taking a similar approach
to gaming which you'll see in new features throughout the site."
The resulting "new" MySpace Games Experience was launched at the Game Developers Conference and news was announced regarding
a new iPhone app called MySpace Neon that will give users access to all of their games on the device. The company also announced
a number of new social games including Fish Isle, Hoop Fever Live, Kingdoms of Camelot, Paradise Paintball, SPP Ranch, Warlords, Wild Ones, and Zombie Revenge.
