Facing a tough fiscal year 2009 (which ends this month), Capcom pushed back some major game releases. Looks like its strategy worked in the short run, bringing up net sales and operating income.
Net sales increased 5.9% for the nine month reporting period ending in December 2009, bringing the total to 49,987 million yen ($552 million USD). Capcom attributes its success to repeat sales of popular titles and Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii.
Capcom's not out of the woods yet with financial losses. With their redistribution of release dates paying off, however, it's as good a time as any to announce a new game in the Monster Hunter series. Returning to PlayStation Portable for this installment, Monster Hunter Freedom 3 is due out before the end of 2010.
