Blog TechCrunch claims several anonymous sources confirmed that Google secretly invested between $100 million and $200 million in FarmVille creator Zynga. If true, Google is poised to compete with Yahoo Games and Facebook sometime this year.

The anonymous sources even claim there's a Google Games service launching later this year. TechCrunch speculates that launching the platform with Zynga not only puts Google on equal footing with Yahoo Games and Facebook but also lets Google form a "true social graph" because people will have to log into Google to play the games.

Zynga had no comment on this story. A representative from Google has not responded to an email requesting comment.
