Microsoft expanded adCenter to China on Tuesday, allowing Chinese businesses to use the advertising platform to market themselves overseas.

The service is being launched through MSN China and will help Chinese businesses promote their products and services in English-speaking countries. Through adCenter, the businesses will be able to place pay-per-click advertising on Microsoft's Bing search engine as well as MSN.com and other sites.

"We feel like by opening up these English-speaking markets, it can really help these Chinese businesses expand," said company spokeswoman Wang Jiqiu.

The move to expand adCenter makes Microsoft more competitive with Google, which has also been targeting Chinese businesses wanting to market themselves abroad.

Currently, there is no Chinese version of adCenter. But as the Bing search engine develops in the mainland market, Microsoft will likely look at selling online advertisements in China through adCenter, Wang said.
