MIS Asia - Citrix Systems has made it easy for enterprise customers to connect to any cloud service, regardless of hypervisor, network or application type.
The company has announced new additions to the Citrix OpenCloud platform: Citrix OpenCloud Access and Citrix OpenCloud Bridge. This enhancement to the platform extends the trust, performance and security of the enterprise data centre to any internal or external cloud environment.
A pragmatic solution
There are several vendors in the market these days who offer competing proprietary cloud stacks and this leads to customers waiting to see who wins the 'cloud wars'. Citrix says the new Citrix OpenCloud products give customers a pragmatic solution that can connect users to the external cloud services in a secure, transparent way.
Enterprise IT organisations can leverage the new Citrix OpenCloud Access and Bridge product offerings to smoothly evolve to next-generation cloud architectures. This migration is made possible without having to rewrite applications, integrate networks into complex architectures, or manage ongoing configuration changes.
Also, IT administrators can pick the optimal deployment model for each application as the same security, compliance and identity management that is applied to internal assets is easily extended to external assets.
These additions to the Citrix OpenCloud platform have brought a range of benefits to the organisations including benefiting from a single identity for all applications and transparent extension of the network.
Citrix has also integrated the new OpenCloud Access solution with Citrix Receiver, and this has given Citrix desktop virtualisation customers a single universal client to securely access any supported app or desktop resource, on any device.
The company says that it is making available both products as optional modules for Citrix NetScaler product line. Citrix OpenCloud Access will be available in the fourth quarter of 2010 and Citrix OpenCloud Bridge will be available in early 2011.
"Citrix is addressing an important issue in the emerging cloud space -- how enterprise customers can leverage existing resources to take advantage of the immense benefits that innovative cloud solutions can bring," said Antonio Piraino, vice president and research director, Tier1 Research. "Many vendors are working on isolated software solutions, but those that are able to deliver an open approach bring reality to the hybrid cloud model, making it seamless across networks, applications, hypervisors and workloads."
